Digital Pianos

Who Knew That Practicing Could Be So Fun…

Digital Pianos bring an entire orchestra to life at your finger tips plus they offer silent headphone practice and midi compatibility.  However, not all digital pianos are equal.  Which fits your needs best?  There are 4 types to consider.

        • Digital Keyboard or Slab Piano:  (We don’t sell these).  Digital Keyboards/Slabs are portable stage instruments designed for live pop/rock/praise music events.  Used by standing performers, these keyboards have only a single unsecured sustain pedal leading to poor ergonomics making them poorly suited for a student practice piano.
        • Digital Pianos:  (We no longer sell these – They don’t last and parts are nearly impossible to source).  Digital pianos, as opposed to keyboards/slabs, have a rigid chassis/foundation and permanently mounted set of 3 pedals which offer improved ergonomics for seated playing and touch sensitivity with weighted hammer actions for a somewhat realistic piano touch.  Unfortunately, both digital pianos and digital keyboards (slab pianos) lack faithful pedal to keyboard interaction and the feedback necessary for students to master more advanced repertoire.
        • Digital Hybrid:  (We do not sell these – Most consumers believe they are overpriced for a student piano).  Digital Hybrids merge digital piano sound production with a traditional mechanical keyboard and pedal action like those found in acoustic pianos.  These instruments look very realistic and offer a touch that very closely mimics the feel of an acoustic piano.  However, Digital Hybrids are expensive (often costing than a traditional acoustic piano) and require electricity as their sound is synthetically produced exclusively through speakers or headphones.
        • Acoustic Hybrid: (We sell several vertical and grand piano models at very competitive prices).  Acoustic Hybrids are midi-enable acoustic pianos that offer the best of both worlds (digital and acoustic).  These instrument look, sound, and feel real because they are 100% acoustic pianos that have been augmented with midi-sampled sound generation.  Their mechanical keyboard and pedal actions provide superior touch response while giving performers the choice between natural acoustic, synthetic digital, and/or layered acoustic/digital sound production.
